Alessia Cara

When she was 19 at the time, she debuted Here, her first song. It became a smash hit and received praise from both listeners and critics alike. The song reached the top spot in both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named the smash one of the best Songs of 2015. She released her debut Know It All album in the year that followed. The third single, Scars to Your Beautiful was the first of five tracks which reached the top spots on Billboard including Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. It was a special track since, in light of the Rap-Up interview that she held with many of her listeners were able to understand her story of learning to love themselves and doubting her. Cara is known for including lyrics about mental health care and self-love into her music. Every song Cara sings comes directly from her struggle with insomnia and mental illness. According to an Reuters interview, she describes her album as half-tumultuous and half mastered. She says she grew through therapy, and urges those around her to seek assistance in times of need. Alessia Cara is a Canadian performer who was born on July 11, 1996, to parents who are of Italian origin. When she was 10 years old, her parents gifted her a guitar. This was the starting point of her musical passion. She began covering her favourite songs at age 13, to show that world that she had the talent and courage that was required to become a performer. One of her tracks, Sweater Weather, was the one that got her attention. EP Entertainment gave her the chance to write and compose her own music.
